In 2024 during an ICERM workshop, we co-mentored with V. Bokil and C. Scheid a research group on structure preserving schemes for nonlinear optics. Starting with nonlinear Schrödinger equation, we investigated classical finite differences schemes that preserve mass and Hamiltonian, and explored physics-informed neural networks techniques taking into account mass and Hamiltonian preservation.
